The Iditarod is a 1,100 mile sled hound race beginning in Anchorage, Alaska and completion in Nome, Alaska. The Iditarod is exceptionally cruel and risky with practically horrendous conditions. Do the dogs were some type of shoes? Mushers are required to carry a minimum of two sets of booties per dog. Most racers change their dog’s booties about every 100 miles. The booties protect their feet from harsh weather and from things that are in the snow. If the weather is cold and windy the dogs were a coat.
What kind of dogs do they use for the Iditarod dog sled race? The mushers use a couple of different types of dogs like Alaskan Huskies theses are mixed breeds or mutts. They have some husky with other breeds like a border collie, setter, and hound.
