Answer:

f'(x) = 4 + 80x³

General Formulas and Concepts:

Calculus

The definition of a derivative is the slope of the tangent line.

We can take the derivative/distribute it over addition and subtraction.

Basic Power Rule:

  • f(x) = cxⁿ
  • f’(x) = c·nxⁿ⁻¹

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: Define function

f(x) = 4x + 20x⁴

Step 2: Find 1st derivative

  1. Basic Power Rule (1st term): f'(x) = 4 · 1x¹⁻¹ + 20x⁴
  2. Basic Power Rule (2nd term): f'(x) = 4 · 1x¹⁻¹ + 20 · 4x⁴⁻¹
  3. Simplify: f'(x) = 4 + 80x³

Sam has twice as many books as Jim. If Sam gives 12 books to Jim, they will have the same number of books. How many books do the
Neko [114]

Alright, lets get started.

Suppose number of books Jim have = x

Sam has twice as many books as Jim. So,

Number of books Sam have = 2x

If Sam gives 12 books to Jim, they will have the same number of books.

When Sam gives 12 books, his remaining books will be = 2x - 12

When Jim gets 12 books from Sam, his books will be = x + 12

And as per given question, they both now have equal books, so

2x - 12 = x + 12

Adding 12 in both sides

2x - 12 + 12 = x + 12 + 12

2x = x + 24

Subtracting x from both sides

2x - x = x + 24 - x

x = 24

It means Jim has number of books = 24

So, Sam has numberof books = 24 * 2 = 48

So, they have number of books together = 24 + 48 = 72 : Answer

Hope it will help :)

Find all the zeros of the equation
lapo4ka [179]

Divide both sides by -3, and replace x^2 with y. Then

-3x^4+27x^2+1200=0\iff y^2-9y-400=0

Factorize the quadratic in y to get

y^2-9y-400=(y+16)(y-25)=0\implies y=-16,y=25

which in turn means

x^2=-16,x^2=25

But x^2\ge0 for all real x, so we can ignore the first solution. This leaves us with

x^2=25\implies x=\pm\sqrt{25}=\pm5

If we allow for any complex solution, then we can continue with the solution we ignored:

x^2=-16\implies x=\pm\sqrt{-16}=\pm i\sqrt{16}=\pm4i

Need to round 402 to nearest ten and hundred
antoniya [11.8K]
The 0 in the number 402 is in the ten place. The number after it is 2. 2 is less than 5.

402 rounded to the nearest ten is 400

The 4 in the number 402 is in the hundreds place. The number after it is 0. 0 is less than 5.

402 rounded to the nearest hundred is 400
