(99 POINTS) Using similarity solve for x. Show all work
Anna11 [10]
Hey there! :D

The biggest thing to remember here is the similar triangles and their side lengths.

Okay, so we can separate these triangles into 3 similar triangles. Which, we only need to do that to two for a proportion, but if you were to have more variables, you could separate the triangles even more if you needed to.

We want to find two triangles that have "x" has a value of their side, so we can solve a proportion.

The bigger triangle, (the whole two triangles combine) and the smaller triangle on the left can be used to make a proportion.

On the smaller triangle:

We have 9 cm on the shorter side and x as the hypotenuse.

On the larger triangle:

We have x as the shorter side, and then 25 as the hypotenuse. (9+16)

Note: You have to flip the larger triangle upside down to make it a similar structure to the other two triangles. It is similar, you just have to flip it.

So, now we can make a proportion.

\frac{x}{9} =  \frac{25}{x}

Now, cross multiply.

9*25= 225

x*x= x^{2}

So, find the square root.

√225= 15

x= 15.

I hope this helps!

Which equation represents the line through (4, -6) and (0, 2)?
lukranit [14]

Answer:

y=-2x+2

Step-by-step explanation:

Hi there!

Linear equations are typically organized in slope-intercept form: y=mx+b where <em>m</em> is the slope and <em>b</em> is the y-intercept (the value of y when x=0).

<u>1) Determine the slope (</u><u><em>m</em></u><u>)</u>

m=\displaystyle\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1} where two points that fall on the line are (x_1,y_1) and (x_2,y_2)

Plug in the given points (4, -6) and (0, 2):

m=\displaystyle\frac{-6-2}{4-0}\\\\m=\displaystyle\frac{-8}{4}\\\\m=-2

Therefore, the slope of the line is -2. Plug this into y=mx+b:

y=-2x+b

<u>2) Determine the y-intercept (</u><u><em>b</em></u><u>)</u>

The y-intercept occurs when x=0. We are given that (0,2) falls on the line, so therefore, 2 is the y-intercept. Plug this into y=-2x+b:

y=-2x+2

I hope this helps!

Triangle ABC has vertices at A(-3, 5), B(0, 0), and C(6, 5). It is transformed so that Triangle A'B'C' has coordinates A'(1, 11)
Alisiya [41]

Jacob is incorrect. The transformation was no a reflection, but a translation. The transation was (x+11,y+6)(11 units rigth and 6 units up). (Explain what the points would have been if it was a reflection across the x-axis)

Pls help me!! I just need help on both of the following questions, a-d on each
Ymorist [56]
I'll do a and e on the first one to show you how to do it

Then See if you can do the rest

a. 6(-3)<span><span>
</span></span>
When your multiplying or dividing with negative numbers; If one of your numbers is negative like the one above, your answer will be negative

So 6 × 3 = 18 ; but since there is a negative on the 3 your answer will be -18

e. -20 ÷ 5

same for this; 20 ÷ 5 = 4, but since the 20 is negative the answer will be <span>-4

You do b, c, d, and f on the first question. Tell me what you get and we'll go from there

</span>Now for the second question <span>

</span>I will do a and d to show you how to do this then you do the rest<span> (I'm inserting a picture with these)

</span>a. 4(-2 \frac{1}{3}) + 7 \frac{1}{6}
First go ahead and turn the fractions into improper fractions, this makes them a bit easier to work with. When multiplying fractions; they do not need a common denominator, all you do is multiply top by top and bottom by bottom.<span>
However, when you add and subtract fractions you MUST have a common denominator

</span>d. (-4.25)(2) + (-4.25)(-2)
remember from the first problem a negative times a positive gives you a negative<span>

but when you times a negative by a negative you get a positive

Now you try b and c; let me know what you get, and we'll go from there!

</span>
