Atomic bombs can release so much radiation that it can kill any living thing in a certain area (depends on the bomb that was dropped). The area where the bomb was dropped can experience long term effects on health and experience mutation in the organisms that reside there (read up on hiroshima and nagasaki aftermath for more information).

Therefore, we do not want to use atomic bombs simply because they cause massive amounts of destruction where innocent lives of people and animals are lost.
