Student claims that he can solve 12 X plus 8Y equals 40 and 4X plus 5Y equals 18 for axing why by adding the first equation into

multiple of the second equation he can use the new equation and the first equation to create a new system that has the same solution of the original listing it begins by listing for different equations determine whether the student can use the credit to replace the second equation and create a new system that has the same solution select yes or no for each equation

Answer:

x = 2 and y = 2

Step-by-step explanation:

The given system of equations are :

12x+8y = 40 ...(1)

4x+5y = 18  ....(2)

Multiply equation (2) by 3.

12x+15y = 54 ...(3)

Subtract equation (1) by (3).

12x+15y-(12x+8y) = 54-40

12x+15y-12x-8y = 14

7y = 14

y = 2

Put the value of y in equation (2).

4x+5(2) = 18

4x+10 = 18

4x = 8

x = 2

The solutions of the given equations are x = 2 and y = 2

What is the x-intercept of -2x 5y = 20 ? question 1 options: 10 4 -4 -10?
Ahat [919]
You mean -2x+5y=20 if it was that's how you do it
so if you're finding the x intercept the y will turn to 0 why because you're only looking for x their's no need for y
so it will be -2x+0=20
-2x=20 if it's multiplication then you change it to division
-2x/-2=20/-2
x=-10

If a+b+c=0 then find the value of a^2+b^2+c^2/a^2-bc pls help me
VladimirAG [237]

a+b+c=0

[(a+b+c)^2=a^2+b^2+c^2+2ab+2ac+2bc]

[a^2+b^2+c^2+2ab+2ac+2bc=0]

[a^2+b^2+c^2=-(2ab+2ac+2bc)]

[a^2+b^2+c^2=-2(ab+ac+bc)] (i)

also

[a=-b-c]

[a^2=-ab-ac] (ii)

[-c=a+b]

[-bc=ab+b^2] (iii)

adding (ii) and (iii) ,we have

[a^2-bc=b^2-ac] (iv)

devide (i) by (iv)

[(a^2+b^2+c^2)/(a^2-bc)=(-2(ab+bc+ca))/(b^2-ac)]
