How can nutrition help with stress?

Foods can help tame stress in several ways. Comfort foods, like a bowl of warm oatmeal, boost levels of serotonin, a calming brain chemical. Other foods can cut levels of cortisol and adrenaline, stress hormones that take a toll on the body over time.

A diet high in vitamins and antioxidants would lower my stress level. The diet would consist of healthy fruits, grains, and vegetables. Some examples of stress-relieving foods in this diet would be green tea, strawberries, spinach, chia seeds, and salmon. These foods are packed with protein, vitamins, and help increase dopamine. The proportions would be 1-2 cups of fruit, 2-3 cups of vegetables, 6-10 ounces of grain, and 5-7 ounces of protein. Cortisol can be reduced in the diet by eating foods that boost our serotonin levels. Extra heathy foods for reducing stress levels include dark chocolate, bananas, eggs, and much more. There's endless opportunities to reduce our stress levels through our diet!
