Answer: By Snell's law, we can see that the angle of refraction is 30.34°

Explanation:

Snell's law says that:

If a ray in a medium of refractive index n₁, insides with an angle θ₁ in another medium with refractive index n₂, then the angle of refraction θ₂ is given by:

n₁*sin(θ₁) = n₂*sin(θ₂)

We know that:

The incidence angle is 45°, then: θ₁ = 45°

We can assume that the first medium is air, then n₁ = 1

The refractive index of the other medium is 1.4, then n₂ = 1.4

Replacing these in the Snell's law equation we get:

1*sin(45°) = 1.4*sin(θ₂)

Now we can solve this for the angle of refraction:

sin(45°)/1.4 = sin(θ₂)

Asin(sin(45°)/1.4 ) = Asin( sin(θ₂)) = θ₂ = 30.34°

So the angle of refraction is 30.34°

list 5 animals that live in the desert. Write a paragraph telling me how they can survive in this particular biome. What feature
NARA [144]

5 desert animals are camel, sand cat, desert tortoises, desert lizards and the great road runner.

Explanation:

 • Camel has several physiological and behavioral adaptations that help them survive the extreme conditions of the desert. They have flat feet to help them spread their weight in the sand.
 • They have thick eyelashes and closeable nostrils to prevent the entry of sand. They store fat on their humps that supplies energy during long journeys and has a long large intestine which increases water reabsorption.
 • Sand cat is similar to the domestic cat in basic appearance but has several adaptations enabling it to survive in the desert. Their paws are covered with thick and long hairs to protect the feet from the heat. They have thick fur that acts as an insulting surface during hot days and cold nights.
 • Desert tortoises have excellent water storage capacity. Their bladders are larger than normal and can carry extra water. They have strong feet which helps them to dig holes in the sand and access rainwater.
 • Desert lizards can drink water through skin. They do it by a process called cutaneous water acquisition and it helps them to gather water obtained from rainfall, damp sand and pools.
 • Great roadrunner has peculiar adaptations. The digestive system of the bird retrieves water from the feces as it is in the excretory canal.

Pathogens are transmitted in only two ways: by direct contact and by vectors.
Marina86 [1]

Answer: False

Explanation:

Pathogens can be transmitted in many ways. It can spread by direct contact, indirect contact, or by vectors.

The mode of transmission can be skin contact, airborne particles, touching a surface, bodily fluids, touched by an infected person.

The mode of transmission can be vector that carries disease and helps in disease transmission.

So, the pathogens can be transmitted by direct contact, indirect contact or by vectors and by many more ways.

Describe the Watson and Crick model of DNA structure. How did it fit the data provided by Chargaff and the X-ray diffraction pat
icang [17]

DNA model given by Watson and Creek in the year of 1953 gave a very detailed study regarding the structure of B DNA which is valid till date and is essentially corroborating with Chargaff's data and Xray diffraction pattern.

Explanation:

The DNA is the most common nucleic acid found in the living organisms as a genetic material. As stated by Watson and Creek, this DNA contains a double helical structure with two sugar phosphate backbones and the nitrogen bases getting projected from it inwards. The backbones are formed of ribose sugar and phosphate and joined together with a phosphodiester bond. The ribose sugar is attached to phosphates at its 3' and 5' Carbon atoms. The nitrogen bases found in DNA are Adenine, Guanine, Thymine and Cytosine. The Adenine has two hydrogen bonds with thymine and guanine has 3 hydrogen bonds with cytosine.

Each full turn of a helix is 34A and each base pair is 3.4A apart. The distance between two strands of DNA is 20A.

Chargaff's rule regarding the equal amount of adenine and thymine as well as guanine and cytosine is matching with this structure. All the other rules also do match with this DNA structure.
