Both countries have a wealth of natural resources and a diverse climate. Both Russia and the United States are difficult to avoid in political alliances because of their size, which, along with their military might, makes them difficult to ignore. It is no surprise that both countries are central states of their regional alliances and will remain so for several years, despite challenges.
