what is ironic in the words used by the narrator to describe the summoner in "the prologue" to the canterbury tales. Youd meet n
Dafna1 [17]

The ironic thing in the words used by the narrator to describe the summoner in "the prologue" to The Canterbury Tales is:

 • The Summoner was corrupt and was ready to forgive a transgression for a cup of wine

According to the complete text, we can see that the Summoner is trying to convince a transgressor that he would allow him to keep a concubine if only he gave him a quart of wine.

As a result of this, we can see that the ironic thing is that the Summoner is supposed to be a church excommunicator who is sent by the Archdeacon to expunge people who committed offences against the doctrines of the church but he was willing to accept a bribe so that he would not do his job.

Since his essay is about comparing news reports and editorials, these are the four things he should focus on. It does not matter what genres are similar to news reports and editorials, since his essay is just about the two things.

which mood is created by thoreaus description of the pond A) serenity B) surprise C) amusement D) thankfulness
Arisa [49]
I agree with the person above - I believe the correct answer is A. serenity.
Thoreau was a transcendentalist, which means that he wrote about nature quite a lot. He believed that people should return to living in nature and escape from the concrete cities they were surrounded with in order to find their true selves once again. His description of the pond during the night and day creates a serene and peaceful picture one could relax to.
