Answer:

The primary reason for converting numbers into scientific notation is to make calculations with unusually large or small numbers less cumbersome. Because zeros are no longer used to set the decimal point, all of the digits in a number in scientific notation are significant.

From experience... Scientific notation is helpful when discussing very large numbers. For example... when discussing atomic masses, the values are so small... that it is much easier to write in scientific notation that to write out all of the 0's that come after the decimal

The boundary for the first inequality: y> x+3 is the line y=x+3 and will be excluded (dashed) from the highlighted area because of the absence of equality sign.

The boundary for the second inequality: y <= 3x-3 is the line y=3x-3, and will show in solid because of the presence of the equal sign.

Please see the image attached showing your original graph with the first inequality in blue, the second in red. Note the y intercepts highlighted by a dot, and also verify the slopes: 1 and 3, respectively.

The solution to the system if inequalities is the area with both shadings overlapping.

Answer:

Part A) The percentage increase was 6.1\%

Part B) Michael is financially better off this year than last year

Step-by-step explanation:

Part A)

we know that

Using proportion

Let

x-----> the percentage increase

\frac{100\%}{33,000}=\frac{x\%}{35,000-33,000}\\ \\x=2,000*100\%/33,000\\ \\x=6.1\%

Part B) Compare the percentage increase with the inflation

6.1\%>5\%

The percentage increase is greater than the inflation

therefore

Michael is financially better off this year than last year
