ANEK [815]
Ian Waterman was able to sense pain and temperature because his spinothalamic pathway was intact, but could not feel touch and limb position because of damage to his lemniscus pathway.

The lateral spinothalamic tract is a sensory pathway which carries sensory information like pain and temperature to the brain, across the thalamus. Free nerve endings which are located in the peripheral tissues are sensitive to cell damage. Those are primary neurons and they pass the sensory signal. Primary neurons synapse with secondary which are located in the spinal cord (white matter). These secondary neurons will ascend through the brainstem, medulla oblongata, pons and midbrain, until synapsing in the ventroposteriorlateral (VPL) nucleus of the thalamus. From the thalamus, the information is sent to cortex (somatosensory cortex).

Posterior column-medial lemniscus pathway is ascending spinal tract, carrying sensory information to the brain (sensory pathway). It conducts localized sensations of fine touch, vibration and proprioception (position sense) from the skin and extremities (muscles) to the central nervous system (cerebral cortex).

During the reproduction of a species of mice, a mutation occurs that makes the hair of The Offspring Blend into its environment.
Bas_tet [7]
This is a positive mutation, because the offspring will survive longer to reproduce. Their offspring will then carry the same genes passing it off to their offspring. The other color mice that did not blend into its environment will soon be extinct, leaving only the mice that can blend in.

MA_775_DIABLO [31]

Answer:

Organisms depends on physical and biological factors of an ecosystem.

Explanation:

Biological and physical changes cause shift in an ecosystem's populations because the population of organisms depends and greatly affected from the environmental factors such as temperature, moisture etc. These environmental factors causes change in the physical features of an ecosystem so when these changes occur in physical factors, it greatly affected the population of organisms.

Novosadov [1.4K]

Answer:

Individuals that are well adapted to their environment will survive and reproduce

According to Charles Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection, organisms that possess heritable traits that enable them to better adapt to their environment compared with other members of their species will be more likely to survive, reproduce, and pass more of their genes on to the next generation.
