In his famous genetic studies, Gregor Mendel studied how different traits of pea plants are transmitted trough different generations. In this studies, Mendel produced a F1 progeny made from crossing a self-fertilized plants with unique characteristics, for instance, tall (dominant) and short (recessive) in height. In the F1 progeny all the pea plants had the dominant trait characteristic, in this case all the pea plants were tall. After crossing the F1 progeny, producing and observing the F2 generation, Mendel concluded that the recessive trait reappeared about 25% of the time.
