Genetic engineering is the process of manipulating genes for practical purposes. today, scientists have genetically engineered many types of organisms including crop plants. which of the following is a current benefit gained from genetically engineered crops? a. some genes can be transferred to wild plants in the area. b. some animals develop allergies to the genetically engineered crops. c. some food staples, such as rice, contain more nutrients. d. some disease resistant fruits and vegetables are less flavorful.

Answer:

. b. some animals develop allergies to the genetically engineered crops. c. some food staples, such as rice, contain more nutrients

Explanation:

Rice is global staple food. It is mostly affordable by the poor and peasant farmer wordwilde.Vitamin A is an important vitamin for good eye sight and also for boosting the  immunity.

This useful vitamin is  present in eggs, cheese and liver. Which are expensive for poor families Some small quantity are produced as carotene found in carrot. However, a precursor of Vitamin A called Pro-vitamin A carotenoids  is present in the part of rice called the Aleurone layer.

However this part of the rice is not in the endosperm thus the vitamin are washed way during processing of white rice .Although this is present in brown rice. Basically, the energy storage in most crop seeds is stored in the endosperm. Thus the vitamin in the rice are not stored are therefore not imbibe during consumption.

Therefore in order to incorporate  carotenoid into the endosperm to avoid been wasted, Daffodil was used. The genes for the transcription of carotene in daffodils and from  particular soil bacteria called Pantoea Anantis were extracted, to transfer carotenoid into the rice endosperm. This is called the Golden rice,, because the rice appear golden from the incorporation of the carotenoid into the endosperm though genetic engineering. This appear orange from the carotene pigment present in the endosperm.

Thus from the consumption of the rice ,poor family could imbibe vitamin A into their diet.

Answer:

All EeWw (100%)

Explanation:

This question involves two genes; one coding for earlobes and the other for hairline. According to the question, one parent is homzygous recessive for earlobe but homzygous dominant for hairline i.e. (eeWW) while the other parent is homzygous dominant for earlobe but homzygous recessive for hairline i.e. (EEww).

The cross between the two parents is as follows: eeWW × EEww. The following gamete combination will be produced by each parent:

eeWW - eW, eW, eW, eW

EEww - Ew, Ew, Ew, Ew

Using this gametes in a punnet square, the following proportion of offsprings will likely be produced:

All EeWw

Diffusion can be defined as ---.
insens350 [35]

Answer:

Movement of particles from a region of high concentration to a region of low concentration

Explanation:

  • Diffusion can be defined as the movement of particles from a region of high concentration to a region of low concentration.
  • Diffusion is a special type of diffusion that involves movement of solute molecules from a region of a high concentration to a region of high concentration until equilibrium is achieved.
  • Diffusion is a passive transport of particles, which means it does not involve use of energy in the form of ATP like the case of active transport.

Question is incomplete I have added the full question at the end of this answer.

Answer:

All these below statements are in parallel with the research publication published in 2006 about darwin's work. Furthermore, Darwin proved that beak evolution occurred at Galapagos island.

Correct Options are

1. Beak size varies among the birds in the finch population under study.

2. Birds that could eat larger, tougher seeds survived and reproduced during the drought.

3. Beak size is an inherited trait in the finch population under study.

"Population thinking" is essential to the idea of natural selection. Rather than thinking of populations or species as sets of mostly identical individuals, Darwin and Wallace understood that a great deal of heritable variation occurs among individuals within populations. Which example best illustrates this idea?

How did the drought lead to an increase in beak size in the medium ground finch population? The Grants reasoned that

prior to the drought, the finch population fed primarily on small seeds that they could open easily. Although larger, tougher seeds were available, they were not typically eaten, not even by finches with larger beaks.

during the drought, only a limited number of small seeds were produced, leaving mostly larger, tougher seeds available for food. Finches that were unable to eat the larger seeds died of starvation.

Based on their observations and the data they collected, the Grants concluded that evolution by natural selection had occurred in the medium ground finch population. The increase in the average beak size of the offspring was a direct result of the change in the food supply during the drought.

In order to have reached this conclusion, the Grants must have either assumed or proven that several other facts about the finch population were true. Which statements represent information that must be true in order for the Grants conclusion to be correct?

Select the three statements that must be true.

Select the three statements that must be true.

An individual finch's beak size can change depending on the size of the seeds it eats.

Beak size varies among the birds in the finch population under study.

Birds that could eat larger, tougher seeds survived and reproduced during the drought.

Beak size is an inherited trait in the finch population under study.

The drought caused a mutation that led to larger beak sizes in the finch population.
