If you find the least common multiple of both numbers, this will give you the information you will need to get your answer.  Each revolution would include all teeth going around. The list of multiples for 24 are 24, 48, 72, 96, 120.  The list for 40 are 40, 80, 120.  This means at 120, they would be in the same place again.  For the first gear to get to 120, it would take 5 rotations the fifth number in the list of multiples for 24).  I hope this helps!

Exercise 3.7.4: let a = 2 1 0 0 2 0 0 0 2 .
swat32

With

\mathbf A=\begin{bmatrix}2&1&0\\0&2&0\\0&0&2\end{bmatrix}

we have

\det(\mathbf A-\lambda\mathbf I)=\begin{vmatrix}2-\lambda&1&0\\0&2-\lambda&0\\0&0&2-\lambda\end{vmatrix}=(2-\lambda)^3

so \mathbf A has one eigenvalue, \lambda=2, with multiplicity 3.

In order for \mathbf A to not be defective, we need the dimension of the eigenspace to match the multiplicity of the repeated eigenvalue 2. But \mathbf A-2\mathbf I has nullspace of dimension 2, since

\begin{bmatrix}0&1&0\\0&0&0\\0&0&0\end{bmatrix}\begin{bmatrix}x\\y\\z\end{bmatrix}=\mathbf 0\implies x=0\text{ or }y=0

That is, we can only obtain 2 eigenvectors,

\begin{bmatrix}1\\0\\0\end{bmatrix}\text{ and }\begin{bmatrix}0\\0\\1\end{bmatrix}

and there is no other. We needed 3 in order to complete the basis of eigenvectors.

PLEASE HELP!!! Okay so I have a triangle and one side is 11 cm, another is 8 cm, and the other is 5 cm. Can someone please find
Zigmanuir [339]
When the length of sides are given, you can use law of cosine to find the angles
Refer to this website for details
https://www.mathsisfun.com/algebra/trig-cosine-law.html

11^=8^2+5^2-2*8*5cosA
-80cosA=32
cosA=-0.4
A is about 114 degree
use the same method to find out B and C, you will get 42 and 25
