Describe in detail what causes seafloor spreading. Use as many key terms as possible.
bixtya [17]

Answer:

Seafloor spreading results from intense activity in the upper mantle which cracks the crust and pushes it away.

Explanation:

Seafloor spreading is a process that was first noticed by Alfred Wegener and was used by him in his theory of plate tectonics. There are three types of plate boundaries; convergent boundary, transform boundary, and divergent boundary. The last one is the one where seafloor spreading occurs.

The convection currents in the mantle are the process that breaks up the crust and move the tectonic plates, and when there is higher activity than usual at some place it results in break up the crust of an already existing tectonic plate.  Basically, magma rises at a higher rate and pushes through the crust, in this case, the oceanic crust, and it manages to gradually break through it and come out on the seafloor. By doing so, the magma and the pressure from below are pushing the two now divided parts of the plate. As the space between the two different parts becomes larger and large the density of the crust becomes smaller and smaller so more and more magma rises through. The magma quickly solidifies on the ocean floor and piles up, thus creating an underwater mountain range known as a mid-ocean ridge.

Which of the Jovian planets experiences a dramatic seasonal change?
OlgaM077 [116]

Answer:

A. Jupiter.

Explanation:

  • As Jupiter has the largest planetary atmosphere its lacks a clear boundary and gradually transitions to the liquid interior of the planet.  Having their temperature gradient.
  • The jovian atmosphere has a large range of active phenomena including the band instabilities and anticyclones, and cyclones and storms and lightning.
  • These cyclones are large red, or brown such as the Great red spot of Jupiter.  Hence,  Jupiter has the most powerful type of storms being accompanied by the convection in the atmosphere as the striking of lightning from the clouds in 10 times more stronger than on earth.
  • Jupiter also consists of upper clouds, located in the low-pressure range are made of ammonia ice. Auroras are a permanent feature of the Jupiter's atmosphere based on the exiting models temperature predictions of the atmosphere are no higher than 400k.
  • Strong jets have been observed at the equator of the by the deep models. Temperature and winds are found to rise from the equator to the poles, thus confined within zones. As a comparison to the anticyclones, the jovian cyclones tend to be small dark and irregular.
