As daylight breaks, restless winds sneak into my room causing little bumps on my arms to form. I have no choice but to wake from

my dream. The bright reflection caused by the white, fluffy substance blanketing my back yard forces my eyes to squint, as I throw open the window curtains. Squeals and muffled laughter from the playful kids next door catch my attention. I rush down the stairs to put on my gear, and I run out into the bitter cold to join them. But after playing for an hour, I’m convinced to come back inside. The brisk air that grabs at my lungs, and the numbness of my toes in my boots have won. But the delicious aroma of Mom’s hot chocolate comforts me. It is soothingly warm as it melts down my throat and tastes like heaven on my lips. Can you spot the sensory details?

Answer:

bumps,  bright reflection, fluffy substance, blanketing,  squint, Squeals and muffled laughter, bitter cold, brisk air, grabs at my lungs, the numbness of my toes, delicious aroma of Moma's hot chocolate, soothingly warm, melts down my throat and tastes like heaven on my lips.

Explanation:

Sensory details are those pieces of information that give the reader an idea of how the character's five senses are involved in his experience. These five senses include the abilities to see, hear, touch, smell, and taste things. They affect the eyes, ears, hands, nose, and tongue.

Sensory details are an important part of literature for they help the audience feel what the writer is describing. They can personalize the events.

Would you want to live in the Mauryan Empire under Ashoka’s Rock and Pillar Edicts? Explain.
creativ13 [48]

Yes, because it was a period of peace and prosperity.

Explanation:

  • Ashoka was the third emperor of the Maurya dynasty and ruled India from 268 to 239 BC. Shocked by the destruction he caused with his war, Ashoka accepted Buddhism and spent the rest of his reign trying to rule his vast empire on spiritual principles.
  • He renounced aggressive foreign policy, promoted harmony among religions, established hospitals, humanized the legal system, and sent Buddhist missionaries across the Indian subcontinent and beyond.
  • Mostly thanks to Ashoka's patronage, Buddhism has so quickly become an all-India religion.
  • To announce his reforms, Ashoka issued a series of proclamations and carved them on huge stone pillars erected across India.
  • These proclamations or edicts are the earliest written declarations of ancient India to date.
