Static stretching is a type of exercise which requires an individual to lie down in a particular position and perform some minimal physical stretching. The time duration for this, ranges from 20 to 40 minutes. If done during pre-workout warm up this stretching may hinder with the overall performance during the workout regime.

Further Explanation:

Stretching is a type of exercise which is performed during workouts. They are physical activities which helps the person to get ready for the workout session.

It is advised that before jumping directly onto the main core exercises an individual should perform a set of stretching exercises. These exercises help in increasing the heart rate and the body temperature. This increase facilitates the body to prevent itself from shock by directly exercising.

The physical activity stretching can be categorized into to two types,

1. Warm-up Exercises

2. Cool down Exercises

The warm-up exercises are generally performed when an individual wants to get ready for exercising. While, the cool down exercises this can also be termed as static stretching is performed when an individual has finished his work-out.

So, if the static stretching is performed before the work-out the body of the individual may go in shock and his/her total workout efficiency may be affected.
