Explanation:

Clara Barton was a nurse and philanthropist who had a strong update during the civil war, going directly to the battlefields to help treat and recover wounded soldiers. In addition, she continued these activities in the post-war period, in addition to assisting in the search for missing and buried soldiers in random graves that the family did not know where they were.

On a trip to Switzerland, she was introduced to the red cross and was delighted with the work that was done by that organization. She knew that the USA needed an institution like this, as there were many people in need in the country, so she started efforts to establish the American Red Cross.
