Embryonic stem cells derived from blastocysts are pluripotent (able to differentiate into many cell types). Adult stem cells, which were traditionally thought to be monopotent multipotent, or tissue restricted, have recently also been shown to have pluripotent properties.

_______ is a brain-imaging technique that shows us precisely which areas of the brain are active at a particular moment in time;
expeople1 [14]
The answer is "PET scan" or "PET-CT".

PET scan or positron emission tomography uses the technology behind conventional CT scans but performs to quantify the function in specific parts of organs (i.e. brain). The patient will be given a positron emitting substance most commonly fluorodeoxyglucose or FDG via intravenous injection. After which, the patient will go to the PET machine and the PET machine will measure the positron emitted throughout the body. Positron is well correlated to the function of a specific part of an organ.

umka2103 [35]

Answer:

the genotype of the bacteria in this E.coli colony is arg^+leu^-met^+

Explanation:

The organism which, due to the lack of particular genes, can not synthesize a particular metabolite or nutrient by itself and needs the nutrient to the growing supplement is called auxotroph. The colony E.coli began to grow on a limited medium with arginine and leucine, and not with arginine and methionine in the above mentioned case. Leucine is therefore a vital metabolite required to grow bacteria and bacteria that do not contain the leu  gene.

Therefore. the genotype of the bacteria in this E.coli colony is arg^+leu^-met^+

Nadusha1986 [10]

Answer:

to adopt a healthy lifestyle in order to prevent and/or reduce the risk of developing complex diseases

Explanation:

Complex genetic diseases are diseases that have a genetic basis but often don't show a clear pattern of inheritance, i.e., the genes that encode for the trait of interest are localized in quantitative trait <em>loci </em>(QTL). In general, complex genetic diseases are multifactorial because both genetic and environmental factors play important roles in the development of this type of disease. Some well-known examples of multifactorial genetic diseases include, among others, heart diseases, diabetes, asthma, some type of cancers, etc. It is well known that healthy lifestyle habits such as maintaining a healthy weight, eating healthy foods, avoiding harmful substances, etc., can prevent complex genetic conditions from manifesting.
