How might we know whether x is a positive number, negative number, or zero, without solving the equation? 5x = -16.5​

To be able to get the negative number you have to divide x by a negative number to get your result. Seeing the solution is a negative number but your left side of the equation is a positive number tells us we have to divide by a negative number on the left side and right to give us the solution... (I think)
