Answer:

The enlarge height is 15 in .

Step-by-step explanation:

Let us assume that the width be w .

Let us assume that the height be h .

(As width and height of the photograph are proportional.)

w \propto h

w = kh

Where k is the constant of proportionality .

As given

Iris has a family photograph with a width of 8 in and height of 10 in.

Here w = 8 in , h = 10 in

Put in the equation w = kh .

8 = 10k

k = \frac{8}{10}

She wants to enlarge the photograph so that it's width is 12 in.

Let us assume that the enlarge height be x .

Here w = 12 in , h = x

Put in the equation w = kh .

12 = kx

k = \frac{12}{x}

Compare the value of k .

\frac{8}{10} = \frac{12}{x}

x= \frac{12\times 10}{8}

x= \frac{120}{8}

x = 15 in

Therefore the enlarge height is 15 in .

A board game that normally costs $30 is on sale for 25 percent off. What is the sale price of the game?
Paha777 [63]

We can use two different ways to solve this equation:

Because the board is 25 off, we can multiply the price and subtract the result:

30 - 0.25(30) = 30 - 7.5 = $22.50

We can also solve by multiplying the total price by 0.75

(1 - 0.25)(30) = 0.75(30) = $22.50

The sales price is $22.50

in a school ,the number of boys who play cricket is 3 times as much as a number of boys who play tennis. if 12 boys, who play cr
Ierofanga [76]

Answer:

The number of boys who play tennis is 36.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of boys who play tennis is x.

number of boys who play cricket = y

x = 3 y..... (1)

12 boys plays both cricket and tennis.

According to the question,

x - 12 = y + 1 2

3 y - 12 = y + 12

2 y = 24

y = 12

So, the number of boys who plays tennis is x = 3 x 12 = 36.
