Explanation:

The first time the author uses the word "faint" it means he suddenly felt dizzy, weak, or had a headache. The second time the author uses the word "faint" he means the stars are there but he does not have a clear view. Which could mean that the sky is just foggy or he has sight problems. It could also be a metaphor for something like the stars showed hope and glory one night but the next showed nothing but sadness. I'm not super sure but I hope this helps!

What motivates Odysseus's men to ignore his orders to leave quickly is 3. they want to eat, drink, and enjoy themselves before setting off on their journey.
They had been traveling the seas for such a long time, so when they finally got an opportunity to relax and unwind a bit, they did so. You can see in the excerpt above that Odysseus says that his men were "on stores of wine," meaning drunk - they wanted to feast and forget about the fact that they have to leave this island soon and venture on.
