A realtor collects the data set given in DS 12.2.4 concerning the sizes of a random selection of newly constructed houses in a c

ertain area together with their appraised values for tax purposes.
1. Fit a linear regression model with appraised value as the explanatory variable and size as the dependent variable.

The table is missing in the question. The table is attached below.

Solution :

Let X = appraised value

    Y = area (square feet)

The regression line is given by :

$\hat y = b_0+b_1X$

$b_1=\frac{n\sum XY-\sum X \sum Y}{n \sum X^2-(\sum X)^2}$

   $=\frac{15(5964990)-(2157)(33370)}{15(404799)-(2157)^2}$

  $=12.3267$

$b_0=\frac{\sum Y}{n}-b_1\frac{\sum X}{n}$

   $=\frac{33370}{15}-\left(12.3267 \times \frac{2157}{15}\right)$

  $b_0=452.0841$

The regression line is :

$\hat Y = 452.0841+12.3267 X$

To estimate the error variance, we have:

Error variance, $\sigma =\sqrt{\frac{\sum (Y-\hat Y)^2}n-2{}}$

                           $=\sqrt{\frac{587682.3}{15-2}}$

                            $=212.6178$

What is the solution set for 3x>6?
zalisa [80]
Isolate the x

divide 3 from both sides

3x/3 > 6/3

x > 6/3

x > 2 is your answer

Note: because you are not dividing by a negative number, you do not need to flip the sign

hope this helps

8n = -3m + 1; n = -2, 2, 4
bogdanovich [222]

I am assuming you want to solve for m in each case

8n = -3m + 1

8(-2) = -3m + 1

-16 = -3m + 1

-3m = -17

m = \frac{17}{3}

8(2) = -3m + 1

16 = -3m + 1

-3m = 15

m = -5

8(4) = -3m + 1

32 = -3m + 1

-3m = 31

m = \frac{31}{3}

36 – 0.0048 = ? A. 35.9952 B. 35.1520 C. 35.0048 D. 36.0048
Tems11 [23]
If you would like to solve 36 - 0.0048, you can calculate this using the following step:

36 - 0.0048 = 35.9952

The correct result would be A. 35.9952.
