The surface of the earth is soft and impressible by the feet of men; and so with the paths which the mind travels. How worn and
faust18 [17]

Answer:

It illustrates Thoreau's goal to continue exploring the world around him in a unique and fulfilling way.

Explanation:

The excerpt we are studying here was taken from Thoreau's "Walden", a book in which he narrates his experience of living, simply and solitary, in a cabin in the woods for some time. This excerpt, as a matter of fact, belongs to the books conclusion. From it, we can gather that Thoreau has the purpose of exploring the world, finding fulfillment in doing so. To express that, he uses imagery - a literary device in which authors appeal to the five senses, providing vivid descriptions. He compares the experience of exploring the world in a philosophical way to the experience of exploring it physically. We can visualize the boat, Thoreau traveling on the deck instead of in a cabin, truly seeing, taking in what the world has to show.

Charra [1.4K]
Deafening Silence is an example of an oxymoron because it simply can't exist. Deafening is a word that is used to describe something that is really loud. Loud and Silent are opposites. This is how I know that statement is an oxymoron.

What similarities and differences of Petrarchan and Shakespearean?
kodGreya [7K]
The similarity is that they both have 14 lines. The differences are mostly regarding form and rhyme. Namely, Petrarchan sonnet has 14 lines, where the first 8 lines (or an "octave) has the rhyme scheme ABBA ABBA, and the last 6 lines (or a sestet) has a varying rhyme scheme, but usually CDECDE or CDC CDC. On the other hand, a Shakespearean sonnet also has 14 lines, which are divided into three quatrains (4 lines) and one couplet (2 lines). The rhyme scheme in the quatrains is ABAB CDCD EFEF, and the final couplet GG.  <span />

Write two to three paragraphs to address the prompt. Use specific information from the text to support your statements.
nexus9112 [7]

well a start would  be to show what Douglass's perspective of slavery was. for example, he thought it was wrong and unfair that a lot of them didn't know when they where born or whernt treated like other regular people. and as for captain canot, he thought slavery was a good thing and he supported it. then build off that with info from the book, or in my case for captain canot, i have to find his story in my online session since im in k12. but if u need anything else, u can ask me. plus i have the same exact thing that is due today. good luck
