People often confuse lack of stautre as lack of authority. Tall people are often viewed as trustworthy and reliable.  Myriad studies indicate that they are considered more dignified, trustworthy, intelligent and authoritative. They have a "stature" in short. Because of this many people of shorter stature are often asscociated powerless and are treated as such.
