The main causes of dust bowl were :

  1. Farmers and ranchers destroyed the grass that held the soil in place
  2. lack of rain in consecutive years or draught.
  3. soil erosion,wind erosion
  4. farmers had basically over aerated the soil of The Great Plains.
  5. unusually high temperatures
  6. poor agricultural practices
  7. farmers did not follow dry land farming methods.
