Lee has a jar of 100 pennies. She adds groups of 10 pennies to the jar . She adds 5 groups. What numbers does she say?
Papessa [141]
<span>Lee says, "110, 120, 130, 140, 150."

Lee's starting at 100. Every time she adds 10 pennies she says the number. Since she starts at 100 and then adds the first group of 10, the first number she says is 110. She adds the second group of 10 more pennies to 110 and now she says 120. She does this 5 times to add 5 groups of pennies to the jar. More simply, she needs to count by 10, five times: 110, 120, 130, 140, 150.</span>

very Latin verb and noun has multiple principal parts. Which principal part gives you... a) ... the present stem of the verb?
lara [203]

Answer:

In order to answer this question, we need to understand 2 things: <em>which are the principal parts of a verb</em>, and <em>what is the stem of a verb</em>.

Explanation:

Firstly, there are <u>4 principal parts</u> in latin verbs:

1. the present, active, first person, singular <em>(Example: </em><em>amo </em><em>– love) </em>

2. the present active infinitive <em>(Example: </em><em>amare </em><em>– to love) </em>

3. the perfect, active, first person, singular (<em>Example: </em><em>amavi </em><em>– have loved) </em>

4. the past participle, singular <em>(Example: </em><em>amatus  </em><em>- loved) </em>

Secondly, <u>the stem of a verb</u> is the one left once you take away the “–ar”, “-er”, or “–ir” ending.

Now, we can conclude that <u>the first principal part</u> gives you the present stem of the verb.

For this assignment, use the novel or short story you chose to read for Module 5.
irina [24]

If this is the book I'm thinking of then this question is in my favor. This is The Magician's Nephew that is apart of the Narnia series, right? (Granted, I haven't read the whole book)

The protagonist of The Magician's Nephew by C. S. Lewis is a young boy named Digory. He behaves like any other 'normal' boy. He's got a taste for danger and adventure, and doesn't mind disregarding the rules for the sake of curiosity or invalidation. With his friend Peggy by his side, they are transported into the magical world of Charn. There, they find the queen, awake her, and cause the conflict that disrupts the story. Digory is saddened by this, but determined to make it right.

The antagonist of this story is debatable, but most likely Uncle Andrew. He is greedy, self-centered, and ignorant of the possibilities of magic (and the affect it has on things). Uncle Andrew is only obsessed with power and being the strongest, and he is willing to use manipulation to get what he wants (though he's very bad at this). What he is searching for and unable to find is the power he seeks and the escape from the conflict he inevitably started.

Consider the symbolism and meaning behind the title. Read Robert Burn’s poem, “To A Mouse”. Throughout the novel, John Steinbeck

<span>For many years America has remained dreaming to manifest its own destiny. It was fantasies like freedom of religion and </span>speech or hope for a better life that fueled a spark in earlier Americans and immigrants that created a hidden movement that would later be known as the American dream. The American dream started when America began to expand to the west coast and built the transcontinental railroad. The dream described America as the land of opportunity and to conquer a new frontier. It wasn’t until the late 1920s that the dream changed drastically after the stock market crashed and the start of the Great Depression. Poverty had struck the nation and the economy collapsed. The dreams that were achieved changed after the Great Depression and more people just wish for a better life. One of the main themes of the novel, Of Mice & Men, is the American dream. The theme has a large effect on the time and place of where the novel takes place. The two main characters of the novel, Lennie and George dream an almost hopeless fantasy to have own small farm and rabbits. The American dream is important during the setting of the novel, Of Mice and Men, due to the unfortunate economic situation of the United States and California’s Salinas Valley during the Great Depression which gives each character their own hopes and aspirations of a better life.
Of Mice & Men takes place in California’s Salinas Valley during the Great Depression. The Salinas Valley is a very rural area during the 1930s. This is where the author of the novel John Steinbeck grew up and witnessed a firsthand account of the setting of the novel. Because of the poor economic state of the nation, any kind of skilled or manual labor was praised for income. Even though Steinbeck was not poor, he was a part of the working class society, and worked as a ranch hand just like George and Lennie were. During the Great Depression any kind of jobs were taken so men like Lennie and George were common to travel for work
