Feudalism was the socio-economic system of medieval Europe and Japan. We can say based on how it functioned that it was intended to protect life and property. Feudalism did protect property but also lives. Namely, the ruler divided the land among the feudal lords. In return, the feudal lord, depending on most of the estates, had to send a certain number of warriors to the ruler when needed. This is how people's lives were protected. The system fed the entire state. The estates were worked by serfs who were the lowest class. They took part for themselves to feed themselves, and the rest was shared among other social classes. From the way, feudalism functioned it is possible to conclude that it fed the people and protected the state.
