The answer would actually be B. They were told that they had very severe cases of stuttering.

They call it the "Monster Study" because after the orphans were told this they developed speech impediments including stuttering a lot. They were so nervous of what others thought that they gained this insecurity. Almost all of them gained a speech impediment which they then had to live.
