A hate crime is a crime or act of violence through words or physical interaction driven by some type of prejudice, weather it be race, sex, belifes, religion, and many more.
According to theconversation.com there are over 200,000 hate crimes a year, consisting of everything from assault to murder, and my personal opinion is this is gross and needs to be stopped in some way. I'm a strong believer in the fact that all humans are the same.
Dosomething.org states that Out of 6,216 crimes reported: 47% were racially motivated, 21% resulted from sexual-orientation bias, 20% were motivated by religious bias,12% stemmed from ethnicity/national origin bias, and less than 1% (0.9%) was prompted by disability bias.
At the end of the day, we all put our pants on the same. We all came from the same place. We are all humans, and if a simple difference in one's lifestyle, or physical appearance drives you to put harm on that person, try and take a look at who is the real problem here.
