Help on functions please.
dedylja [7]
A) Sub g(x) and h(x) into the equation:
x^2 + 3x - 40 - (-x -3)
= x^2 + 3x - 40 +x + 3
= x^2 + 4x - 37
Find x:
x= 4.40 and x= -8.40
b) Sub f(x) and g(x) into the equation:
(x^2 - 64) / (x^2 + 3x -40)
= ((x+8) x (x-8)) / ((x+8) x (x-5))
= (x - 8) / (x-5)
Find x:
x= 8 and x = 5
How to get those number:
(x^2 - 64) = x^2 - 8^2 = (x-8) x (x+8)
( x^2 + 3x - 40) = (x^2 + +8x - 5x - 40) = x( x + 8) - 5( x + 8) = (x-5) x (x+8)

Decide whether or not the ordered pair is a solution of the equation x + y=13;(6,7)
DaniilM [7]

Answer:

yes (6,7) is a solution.

Step-by-step explanation:

(6,7) is an ordered pair, see it like (x,y). so

x=6

y=7

substitute the variable with the values.

x+y=13

6+7=13

13=13

this is a true statement.

The box plots show the average speeds, in miles per hour, for the race cars in two different races.
Murljashka [212]

Answer:

The correct option is;

The median speed in race A is about 153 miles per hour and the median speed in race B is about 145 miles per hour.

Step-by-step explanation:

Here we have the  box plot which shows the following 5 values

Race A

Maximum = 170 miles per hour

Minimum = 120 miles per hour

1st quartile  ≈ 142 miles per hour

Median or 2nd quartile ≈ 153 miles per hour

3rd quartile = 165 miles per hour

Race B

Maximum = 165 miles per hour

Minimum = 125 miles per hour

1st quartile  ≈ 139 miles per hour

Median or 2nd quartile = 145 miles per hour

3rd quartile = 150 miles per hour

Therefore, the correct option is as follows;

The median speed in race A is about 153 miles per hour and the median speed in race B is about 145 miles per hour.
