well this all depends on a person's opinion but the system we have now is a majority vote or what you would call it, a national popular vote. What i mean by this is that states get to be represented equally. we have this system because then the states with a smaller population get to "voice their opinion"

let me explain. so if a state like Wyoming with only 580,000 people voted for democrats and a large state like Texas with 29mil voted for republicans, then obviously the republicans would win because theres just more people in Texas and they all want the republicans to win. With the majority vote, Wyoming counts as one for the democrats, and Texas counts as 1 vote for the republicans. it all depends on what you think works best and yeah i think the system is pretty well thought out because if you grow up in a place like texas, the majority of people there will go republican and thats just not fair when you think about it because states with a smaller population but think differently wont get a say.
