The equation 22 = 2y + x represents the perimeter of a flower garden with
iren [92.7K]

Answer:

y =  \frac{22-x}{2}

For width = 2 ft, the length of the flower bed = 10 ft.

For width = 3 ft, the length of the flower bed = 9.5 ft.

For width = 4 ft, the length of the flower bed = 9 ft.

Step-by-step explanation:

Here, the Perimeter of the flower garden is given as

22 = 2 y + x

: where, y : Length of the garden

and x : Width of the garden .

Now, solving for y in the above expression,we get

22 = 2 y + x  ⇒    22 - x = 2 y

or, y =  \frac{22-x}{2}

Now, <u>when the width (x) = 2 feet</u>

Length of the flower  bed y =  \frac{22-x}{2}  = \frac{22-2}{2}  = \frac{20}{2}  = 10

or, x = 10 ft

⇒For, the width = 2 ft, the length of the flower bed = 10 ft.

<u>when the width (x) = 3 feet</u>

Length of the flower  bed y =  \frac{22-x}{2}  = \frac{22-3}{2}  = \frac{19}{2}  = 9.5

or, x = 9.5 ft

⇒For, the width = 3 ft, the length of the flower bed = 9.5 ft.

<u>when the width (x) = 4 feet</u>

Length of the flower  bed y =  \frac{22-x}{2}  = \frac{22-4}{2}  = \frac{18}{2}  = 9

or, x = 9 ft

⇒For, the width = 4 ft, the length of the flower bed = 9 ft.

Find the area of the region bounded by the graphs of y = x, y = −x + 4, and y = 0.
Marrrta [24]
The line y = x and y = -x + 4 intersect when at the point (2, 2).

Expresing y = -x + 4 in terms of x, we have x = 4 - y.

Thus, the area of the region bounded by the <span>graphs of y = x, y = −x + 4, and y = 0 is given by

\int\limits^2_0 {(y-(4-y))} \, dy = \int\limits^2_0 {(y-4+y)} \, dy \\  \\ = \int\limits^2_0 {(2y-4)} \, dy= \left[y^2-4y\right]_0^2 =|(2)^2-4(2)| \\  \\ =|4-8|=|-4|=4

Therefore, the area bounded by the lines is 4 square units.

How do you end up with 0=0
Eva8 [605]
Ok so first plug in y for in the equation 2x-2y=12
Therefore 2x - 2(x -6)=12
Then distribute the two to the x and the -6
2x-2x+12=12
The 2x's cancel leaving you with
12=12
From there you could subtract the 12 from both sides to get 0=0, I assume
