I don't know what these other people are talking about, this is in fact a system of two equations.

Your first step or two looks correct.
y = x-6

2x - 2(y) = 12
2x - 2(x-6) = 12

Distributing the -2,

2x - 2x + 12 = 12

Combining like-terms,

12 = 12

The x's completely fell out of the equation,
and we end up with a true result.
That means that every x satisfies the system.

The system is called "coincident".
Yes, they are essentially the same line.
That doesn't mean it's not a system though.

If you want to get 0 = 0,
you would subtract 12 from both sides as a final step.

Ok so first plug in y for in the equation 2x-2y=12
Therefore 2x - 2(x -6)=12
Then distribute the two to the x and the -6
2x-2x+12=12
The 2x's cancel leaving you with
12=12
From there you could subtract the 12 from both sides to get 0=0, I assume

Suppose a bike wheel has a diameter of 70 cm and the rider completes one cycle in
fenix001 [56]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

radius 70/2=35 cm

circumference=2πr=2π×35=70π cm

time taken to complete one revolution=0.8 s

or distance covered in 0.8 s=70π

distance covered in 1 s=70π/0.8=700 π/8=175 π/2 s=87.5 π≈274.9 cm

speed=274.9 cm/s=2.749 m/s

evelyn has $638.54 in her checking account. she must maintain a $500 balance to avoid a fee. she wrote a check for $159.50 today
Pachacha [2.7K]

The inequality is:

x + $488.04 ≥ $500

And the solution is

x ≥ $11.96

How to write and solve the inequality?

First, let's define x as the amount that she needs to deposit.

Now, we know that at the moment Evely has $638.54 in her bank account. Then she pays for $638.54, then she writes a check for $159.50, then we need to subtract that:

$638.54 - $159.50 = $488.04

Now she needs to deposit an amount x, such that her balance is at least $500, then we can write the inequality:

x + $488.04 ≥ $500

Solving that for x, we get:

x ≥ $500 - $488.04 = $11.96

She needs to deposit at least $11.96.
