Read the stanza from "Invictus:"
Sindrei [870]
*You control your own destiny.*

Two lines of the poem directly support this claim. They are...

"I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul."

Meaning that the ultimate determining factor is you. Everyone is granted a choice, fate and destiny do not control you, because everyone has free-will.

in at least 150 words discuss in what ways the narrative of the life of frederick douglass make a powerful case against slavery?
Elena L [17]

Fredrick Douglass wrote his own account of life in which he mentioned about the ills of slavery and about the hardships which the slaves had to undergo. He had tried to expose the cruelty of slavery which doesn't spare anyone born in a black family. He points out the idea that a slave is a form of property owned by the master and he possesses full control over him. Douglass fought for equal rights given to the Blacks to vote. He also wanted equal rights for women including the White women to vote and wanted fair public education granted to everyone.

What are stereotypes, and how do they affect how we see ourselves and how others see us?
Alinara [238K]

Answer:

hope this helps!

Explanation:

What is stereotyping? Stereotyping is what most of us do, whether we want to admit it or not. For example, we might assume someone doesn’t know how to speak English fluently because of the color of their skin. When we stereotype, we put people in different categories we think they might fit in. When we do this, we give everyone in that category a specific characteristic. For example, fast-food restaurants that provide toys along with kid's meals, assume that boys like to play with cars and girls like to play with dolls. Stereotypes are a problem when they include assumptions about people that are not necessarily accurate.  Stereotyping affects everyone, man or woman. Stereotyping changes the way we look at others and sometimes it changes the way we look at ourselves too. It may make us feel like we're not wanted, and we don't belong, but we do belong.
