Every day after work Paul took his muddy boots off on the steps of the front porch. Alice would have a fit if the boots made it

so far as the welcome mat. He then took off his dusty overalls and threw them into a plastic garbage bag; Alice left a new garbage bag tied to the porch railing for him every morning. On his way in the house, he dropped the garbage bag off at the washing machine and went straight up the stairs to the shower as he was instructed. He would eat dinner with her after he was “presentable,” as Alice had often said.

in what way is the concept of no taxation without representation central to americas identity as a nation
yuradex [85]

The English Parliament had controlled colonial trades, imports and exports since the beginning. But the americans weren't represented in the Parliament, so this went against the Bill of Rights of 1689, which forbid the imposition of taxes without the Parliament's approval. The increasing imposition of taxes in the second half of 18th century harmed the colonies' trade and economy, paying for wars on the other side of the Atlantic that had very little to do with them. So, they denied to keep paying for taxes unless they got direct representation in the Parliament. With this, the inhabitants of the colonies were claiming their equality with the inhabitants of the metropolis. It eventually led to the American Revolution, since the English government refused to listen to the colonies' demands.

The notion of "no taxation without representation" tied the colonies together against a common enemy, setting the foundations of what it would become the United States of America.

I know what the caged bird feels, alas! When the sun is bright on the upland slopes; When the wind stirs soft through the spring
never [62]

Answer:

I believe it would be alive and inviting.

Explanation:

The author explains all the splendors of nature whilst the cage imprisons him, preventing him from fully taking in the splendor that is around him. Hence creating slight hyperbole that displays his yearn to experience it all firsthand.

Before 8 a.m., traffic is light, however, at 5 p.m., Fred always wishes that he drove a bulldozer to push other cars out of his
mamaluj [8]

Answer: The correct sentence is;

'<em>'Before 8 a.m., traffic is light; however, at 5 p.m., Fred always wishes that he drove a bulldozer to push other cars out of his way.''</em>

Explanation:

There should be a semicolon after the word light because this joins the two contrasting clauses (one where traffic is light and the other inferring heavy traffic).

The conjunctive adverb, <em>''however'' </em>is properly used in the sentence to link the two independent clauses.
