Where do the reactions for cellular respiration happen in a cell? Why is cellular respiration important?

Answer:

Oxygen is needed to help the process of turning glucose into ATP. The initial step releases just two molecules of ATP for each glucose. The later steps release much more ATP. Most of the reactions of cellular respiration are carried out in the mitochondria.

a) They increase the surface area of the organ eg. small intestines to allow more area of nutrients to be absorbed. The larger the surface area the more nutrients are absorbed.

b) They contain many capillaries which helps to increase the rate of nutrients absorption in the small intestines.
