Question 2 Describe the energy in coal and the way in which it’s converted to electrical energy.

Chemistry
1 answer:
Scilla [17]2 years ago

Answer:

Its rich carbon content gives coal most of its energy content. When coal is burned in the presence of air or oxygen, heat energy is released. This energy can then be converted to other forms of useful energy. Coal-fired plants produce electricity by burning coal in a boiler to produce steam. The steam produced, under tremendous pressure, flows into a turbine, which spins a generator to create electricity.

Hope this helps! :)

What is Inorganic matter?

Inorganic matter is substances of mineral origin that are not characterized by primarily carbon-based structures.

Sewage treatment (or domestic wastewater treatment, municipal wastewater treatment) is a type of wastewater treatment which aims to remove contaminants from sewage to produce an effluent that is suitable for discharge to the surrounding environment or an intended reuse application, thereby preventing water pollution from raw sewage discharges.

The main goal of wastewater treatment facilities is to protect humans and the ecosystem from harmful and toxic elements found in wastewater.

Hence, option C is correct.

Why does stirring increase the rate of dissolution?
gavmur [86]

The correct option is D.

When dissolving a substance in a solvent, stirring the solution will increased the rate at which the substance dissolved. This is because, when one stirs a solution, it exposes more surface area of the solute to the solvent, thus, increasing the interaction between the solute and the solvent. The higher the quantity of the solute that is exposed to the solvent, the higher the rate of dissolution of the solute.

Bismuth oxide reacts with carbon to form bismuth metal:
kvv77 [185]

(a) 3.33 mol Bi

Explanation:

Step 1: Convert 283 g to moles

Bi Molar Mass - 208.98 g/mol × 2 = 417.98 g/mol

O Molar Mass - 16.00 g/mol × 3 = 48.00 g/mol

283 g Bi₂O₃ ÷ 465.98 g/mol = 0.0607 mol Bi₂O₃

Step 2: Find the conversion from Bi₂O₃ to Bi

1 mole of Bi₂O₃ equals 2 moles of Bi

Step 3: Use Dimensional Analysis

1.66316 mol · = 3.32632 mol Bi

3.32632 mol Bi ≈ 3.33 mol Bi

What is bismuth oxide used for?

Bismuth oxides have been considered as an interesting material because of their dielectric properties and have been used for applications such as optical coatings, metal-insulator-semiconductor capacitors and microwave-integrated circuits.

What is bismuth used for in everyday life?

Bismuth finds its main uses in pharmaceuticals, atomic fire alarms and sprinkler systems, solders and other alloys and pigments for cosmetics, glass and ceramics. It is also used as a catalyst in rubber production
