You just have to divide 76 by 8 to find the value of one pound of cashews. This can be done also by dividing 19 by 2.

Nayeli wants to swim 50 miles this school year. She plans to swim 1/4 mile each day. How many days will it take her to swim 50 m
anzhelika [568]
It will take Nayeli 4 days
I got this answer by dividing 50÷1/4 which equals 12.5. If Nayeli plans to swim 1/4 mile each day until she has reached 50 miles, she would've done 12.5 miles per day. To check if I am correct, multiply 12.5×4 and it will equal to 50. (also, I did 25÷2 to get 12.5. The reason I did this is because 25 is half of 50, so to split it into 4 I had to make 25 half of what it already is)

Solve the system of equation using subtraction 3x+2y=7 y=-3y+11
forsale [732]
Assumig 2nd euqation is y =-3x+11
using subtraction

minus y both sides and minus 11
-3x-y=-11

add to other equation to eliminate y's

-3x-1y=-11
3x+2y=7 +
0x+1y=-4

y=-4

sub back

y=-3x+11
-4=-3x+11
minus 11 both sides
-15=3x
divide both sides by 3
-5=x

(x,y)
(-5,-4)

Can square pieces of foam board, each with an area of 169 square inches,be cut and used to construct a cube with a volume of 1,7
Luba_88 [7]
No, they cannot.

A square has 4 sides that are equal. To find the area of a square, we multiply its length and width; since they are the same, we are basically squaring that side.

A=s²

To find the side if we know the area, we work backward and take the square root:

√169=√s²
13=s

The side length is 13 in.

A cube has the same length, width, and height. To find the volume of a cube, we multiply these 3 measurements; since they are the same, we are basically cubing the side length:

V=s³

We know the volume is 1728, so we have:

1728=s³

To work backward, we take the cubed root:
∛1728=∛s³
12=s

The side length of the cube would have to be 12; a 13 in side would not work.
