Loss of plant nutrients (nitrogen, potassium, calcium, iron, etc.) or loss/gain of organic material due to growth of crops or soil erosion are reasons that soil loses its fertility.

Soil as such does not lose fertility just by growing crop but lose it fertility due to accumulation of unwanted and depletion of wanted inorganic salts from the soil by improper irrigation and acid rain water (quantity and quality of water)

"Both Milosz and Ionesco produced the majority of their literature during World War II, which was also the era in which Nazism was gaining popularity."

"The poem by Milosz has a tone that is both interfering and angry. In his poetry, he expresses his dissatisfaction with the policies and procedures followed by the government. When Ionesco explains that the "hippo metaphor" is suggesting that the President should utilize food as a catalyst for anti-discriminatory action, his tone is indignant and diminutive. Both authors talked about Nazism, but they did so in quite different ways and from very different vantage points.
