An artist paints a woman looking at the sky and smiling to symbolize freedom. what kind of appeal has the artist used?
AfilCa [17]

The artist is using the appeal of pathos (emotional response). They play on the viewers association of the sky with endlessness, as it is often described as such. Additionally, most people associate the sky with birds which are used as mascots which hold value for freedom, like America's bald eagle. Lastly, people have an involuntary reaction to positive stimulus by smiling.

Anyone know what any of these are? its my first year of jazz
shusha [124]
Those are scales. the highlighted notes (aka the guide tones) are notes in that specific chord that give a harmonic pull towards the next chord. generally they are the 3rd and 7th note (that’s what determines what type of chord it may be: major, minor, major-minor, or dominant). they are the most harmonically important notes in the chord since they determine the quality of the chord itself, so make sure they are in perfect tune.
