1) Tariff of 1828- Tariff of Abominations- This was the name given to the tariff by Southerners, especially from South Carolina. These Southerners hated the tariff because it decreased foreign trade. This hurt Southerners because many of them traded cotton for manufactured goods made in England.

2) Harriet Tubman- Underground Railroad- Harriet Tubman was a former woman slave who helped hundreds of former slaves escape to freedom in the North.

3) Published the Liberator- William Lloyd Garrison- The Liberator was a famous newspaper focused on getting rid of the institution. It would quickly become one of the most popular pieces of literature used by the abolitionist movement.

4) Abolitionist who led the raid on Harper's Ferry- John Brown- John Brown felt that the institution of slavery was illegal and that it would only be removed from American society through bloodshed.

Ainat [17]
China's isolation by the himalayas prevented modernization and kept the ideas and technologies that were traded in europe and india out of there country. this also kept merchants and traders with goods that china could not access out of the country, however, this did decrease the chance of invasion because the mountains did provide protection. the chineese built the Great Wall completely isolating themselves and protecting there pure chinese cultures and traditions and they remained uneffected by the rest of europe.

How did the American public receive the two new amendments
jarptica [38.1K]

Answer:

Explanation:

Amendments may be proposed either by the Congress with a two-thirds vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate or by a convention of states called for by two-thirds of the state legislatures.[1] To become part of the Constitution, an amendment must be ratified by either—as determined by Congress—the legislatures of three-quarters of the states or state ratifying conventions in three-quarters of the states.[2] The vote of each state (to either ratify or reject a proposed amendment) carries equal weight, regardless of a state's population or length of time in the Union. Article V is silent regarding deadlines for the ratification of proposed amendments, but most amendments proposed since 1917 have included a deadline for ratification. Legal scholars generally agree that the amending process of Article V can itself be amended by the procedures laid out in Article V, but there is some disagreement over whether Article V is the exclusive means of amending the Constitution.
