There are a total of 52 students on the soccer team and field hockey team. The field hockey team has 12 more students than the s

Y = x+12
52 = x + y

You plug in the (x+12) for y in (52 = x + y) making the equation 52 = x + x +12 or simplified 52 = 2x + 12. You subtract 12 from both sides of the equation to get 40 = 2x. You divide both sides by 2 to get 20 = x.

You then plug in 20 for x in y = x+12, now y = 20 +12. Simplified y = 32

32 + 20 = 52

X= Number of students on the soccer team
Y= Number of students on the hockey team

x+y=52
y=x+12

What is the measure of
Anestetic [448]

Answer:

Angle QPU = 110

Step-by-step explanation:

Since angle QPU & RPQ are supplementary angles, they add up to 180 degrees. So take 180 - 70 which gives you 110.

(h(1) = 96<br> (h(n) = h(n − 1) - 1<br> Find an explicit formula for h(n).
Lubov Fominskaja [6]

Answer:

a_n=97-n

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

h(1)=96\\ \\h(n)=h(n-1)-1

Find first terms:

h(1)=96\\ \\h(2)=h(2-1)-1=h(1)-1=96-1=95\\ \\h(3)=h(3-1)-1=h(2)-1=95-1=94\\ \\h(4)=h(4-1)-1=h(3)-1=94-1=93\\ \\....

In this arithmatic sequence, each next term is 1 less than the previous term.

The general explicit formula is

a_n=a_1+(n-1)d

In your case,

a_1=96\ \text{   First term}\\ \\d=-1\ \text{   Common difference}

Then

a_n=96+(n-1)\cdot (-1)\\ \\a_n=96-(n-1)\\ \\a_n=96-n+1\\ \\a_n=97-n

How long would it take for money to double at 11% interest compounded quarterly?
vlada-n [284]

Answer: Approximately 6.3876 years

When rounding to the nearest whole number, this rounds up to 7 years.

===============================================================

Work Shown:

We'll use the compound interest formula

A = P*(1+r/n)^(n*t)

where,

  • A = amount of money after t years
  • P = initial deposit amount or principal
  • r = interest rate in decimal form
  • n = compounding frequency
  • t = number of years

In this case, we know that,

  • A = 2P, since we want the initial amount to double. P can be any positive real number you want and it doesn't affect the answer.
  • r = 0.11
  • n = 4, since we're compounding 4 times a year
  • t = unknown, what we want to solve for

So,

A = P*(1+r/n)^(n*t)

2P = P*(1+r/n)^(n*t)

2 = (1+r/n)^(n*t)

2 = (1+0.11/4)^(4*t)

2 = 1.0275^(4t)

Ln(2) = Ln(1.0275^(4t))

Ln(2) = 4t*Ln(1.0275)

4t*Ln(1.0275) = Ln(2)

t = Ln(2)/(4*Ln(1.0275))

t = 6.38758965414661

It takes roughly 6.3876 years for the deposit to double. If you need this to the nearest whole number, then round up to 7. We don't round to 6 because then we would come up short of the goal of doubling the deposit.
