I'm not exactly sure cause I learned this along time ago, but I think its D.

Explanation:

Evolution is not accurate, and development has nothing to do with creating energy or making complex carbon. Photosynthesis seems like the right answer but that's when a plant absorbs sunlight and water to make glucose and oxygen.
