Hello,
Answer: The book Lilies of the field the general theme would be of the many people the power of praying and having much faith in one and another.
My work: The book was about five German speaking nuns who tried to escape from the threatening communist from Eastern Europe and throughout the story there is constant prayer for help and for safety. It some parts it might not be told in physical words, but it gives you thoughts of the readers to keep faith and for those nuns to keep going!
I Hope it helps!

Gilbert's relation with his father is strong, though it may be presented as complicated, as his father used to stay away at the sea for the majority of the time.
Explanation:
In the story, "Another Place, Another Time", Gilbert is presented as a young boy, who despises time, as it is time which comes in the way of his father and him. His father stays away at the sea for long and Gilbert has to spend that time just waiting.
When his father dies, he again blames time as he wants all the time back which he spent with his father.
Hence, it is these incidents that represent that he has a strong bond with his father.
I think the sentence that best supports this is "I will advise you and direct you. I should not be a man if this womanly helplessness did not just give you a double attractiveness in my eyes."
