Meriwether Lewis - he was the leader of the expedition, and he had an enormous responsibility to explore the recently acquired territories of Louisiana. Because of his appointment by President Thomas Jefferson, Lewis was anxious and worried if the attempt would fail.

Wiliam Clark - he was an explorer, and he was appointed by Lewis because of his experience to deal with the native people. Clark was not an amateur, but the anxiety to explore a brand new territory and the complex relations with the natives were not a surprise.

Sacajawea - she was a native American and the guide and interpreter of the expedition. She was cheerful to help Lewis e Clark, especially with the possibility to increase the presence and the contribution of the Native Americans in the development of the country.

York - an African American explorer, first enslaved by Clark.  Because of his strength, he was responsible for the heavy labor of the expedition.
