To,

The Editor

Times of India

New Delhi

Sir,

I am writing to you to express my strong opposition regarding the proposed plan to construct an iron factory in the new industrial area. Though I am not entirely against the plan or against any development, the fact that the factory will be just across my school's playground is a grave mistake. It will not only disrupt the school's atmosphere but also pose a serious health hazard to the students and citizens around the place, and threaten their freedom of playing or enjoying their physical activities.

If only anything can be done to change the location of the factory, it will help preserve the atmosphere of the school and save the school. Maybe, the authorities can find ways to shift the location or try a different plan so as not to disrupt the school and its students.

Please ensure the issue brings attention to the school and its safety.

Thank you.

Regards,

Aditi Verma.

Imagine that a person has approached you and asked to borrow a substantial sum of money. What would you want to know about this
EastWind [94]

Answer:

I would want to know who they are; Whats their name, where they work, why they need money, where they live. Assuming that we are strangers, I would want a basic idea of who this person is. Also, based on how they answer and what their answers are, I can judge their character to the best of my abilities. Besides basic information, I would also want to know what their intentions are with the money: How will they spend, are they spending it all in one place, is it being used for something to help meet basic needs? I would not want to give money to someone who will use towards illegal activity, nor would I want someone using my hard earned ash towards personal benefit(negative) Such as; shopping sprees, hair/nail/spa treatments, vacations and etc. Even though I asked a bunch of questions already, I would also want to know why they are asking me/ strangers for money, instead of earning it themselves? What is preventing them from getting this money themselves.

HELP ASAP (GREAT GATSBY)
Evgesh-ka [11]

After reading the novel "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald, we can match the minor characters to their descriptions in the following manner:

 • Meyer Wolfsheim - Business associate of Gatsby's who appears broken over Gatsby's death, but does not attend his funeral.
 • Owl Eyes - The only fellow to show to Gatsby's funeral besides Nick and Gatsby's father.
 • Klipspringer - After Gatsby's death, he calls Nick at Gatsby's house because he wants to collect his shoes. He refuses an invitation to Gatsby's funeral.

What is a minor character?

 • Minor characters are less important than the main characters in a story, but they still contribute to the development of the plot and, sometimes, even take part in conflicts.

The minor characters in "The Great Gatsby":

 • Wolfsheim, Owl Eyes, and Klipspringer are minor characters, which means they are not as important and do not appear as much as Gatsby, Daisy, Tom, and Nick, for example.
 • Wolfsheim is Gatsby's business partner. In other words, he is also a criminal. Although he likes Gatsby very much, he does not attend his funeral.
 • Owl Eyes is a man who wears spectacles and appears to be intoxicated in one of Gatsby's parties. Nick meets him in the library of the mansion. Surprisingly, he is the only one who actually cares about Gatsby's death enough to show up to the funeral.
 • Klipspringer is a musician who lived at Gatsby's mansion. However, that is not enough to make him care about his death. He was most likely just enjoying the comfort and the easy life Gatsby provided him with.
