I'm assuming you meant subsistence farming? If so then yes, it would be a large problem because they would then not have enough food to feed themselves.

forms a thin crust. Pillow lava forms when lava erupts underwater.
Blocky lava is kool, stiff lava that does not travel far from thr
eruption site.
They are narrower than the ones if the Atlantic and are not covered with thick layers of sediment.
