Even though Uranus is bigger earth has more mass because earth is made up of rock and Uranus is made up of gas and  rock is heavier than gas because rock is a solid  has no room to for the molecules to move around while uraanus is made of gas which is lighter so the molecules can move around more freely which means that earth will have more mass and there for will have more gravity.

A sled of mass m is given a kick on a frozen pond. The kick imparts to the sled an initial speed of 2.00 m/s . The coefficient o
kobusy [5.1K]

2.04 meters distance is traveled by the sled before stopping.

Mass of the sled = m

The initial speed of the sled = 2 m/s

Coefficient of kinetic friction between sled and ice = 0.100

Let the distance the sled moves before it stops be d.

Gravity = 9.8 m/ s²

Let the initial kinetic energy sled be

= K _{i}

K_{i} =  \frac{1}{2} mv ^{2}

The work done by the frictional force is,

Work \: done \:  by \: frictional \: force =W_{f}

W _{f} = μ_{k}mgd

Work done by frictional force= Initial kinetic energy of the sled

W_{f} = K_{i}

μ_{k}mgd= \frac{1}{2} mv ^{2}

So, the distance traveled by the sled before stopping is

d= \frac{1mv ^{2} }{2 \:μ_{k}mg}

d= \frac{1v ^{2} }{2 \:μ_{k}g}

d= \frac{2^{2} }{2  \times \:0.100 \times 9.8}

d= 2.04 \: m

Therefore, the distance traveled by the sled before stopping is 2.04 meters.

A projectile was launched horizontally with a velocity of 388 m/s, 2.89 m above the ground. How long did it take the projectile
tamaranim1 [39]

Answer:

Explanation:

Given

Velocity = 388m/s

Height S = 2.89m

Required

Time

Using the equation of motion

S =ut+1/2gt²

2.89 = 388t+1/2(9.8)t²

2.89 = 388t+4.9t²

Rearrange

4.9t²+388t-2.89 =0

Factorize

t = -388±√388²-4(4.9)(2.89)/2(4.9)

t= -388±√(388²-56.644)/9.8

t = -388±387.93/9.8

t =0.073/9.8

t = 0.00744 seconds

Ice has a specific heat of 2090 J/(kg C) and water has a specific heat of 4186 J/(kg C). Water has a latent heat of fusion of 3.
zepelin [54]

Answer:

3.1 × 10⁷ J

Explanation:

The total heat required is the sum of the heats required in each stage.

1) Solid: from -60°C to 0°C.

Q₁ = c(s) × m × ΔT = (2090 J/kg.°C) × 10 kg × (0°C - (-60°C)) = 1.3 × 10⁶ J

where,

c(s): specific heat of the solid

m: mass

ΔT: change in the temperature

2) Solid to liquid at 0°C

Q₂ = Qf × m = (3.3 × 10⁵ J/kg) × 10 kg = 3.3 × 10⁶ J

where,

Qf: latent heat of fusion

3) Liquid: from 0°C to 100°C

Q₃ = c(l) × m × ΔT = (4186J/kg.°C) × 10 kg × (100°C - 0°C) = 4.2 × 10⁶ J

where,

c(l): specific heat of the liquid

4) Liquid to gas at 100 °C

Q₄ = Qv × m = (2.26 × 10⁶ J/kg) × 10 kg = 2.26 × 10⁷ J

where,

Qv: latent heat of vaporization

Total heat

Q₁ + Q₂ + Q₃ + Q₄

1.3 × 10⁶ J + 3.3 × 10⁶ J + 4.2 × 10⁶ J + 2.26 × 10⁷ J = 3.1 × 10⁷ J
