Federalists favored a stronger, united federal government and the ratification of the Constitution opposed to the Anti-Federalists who wished for the state and local governments to remain in power. Federalists believed that giving more power to the federal government guranteed all citizens liberties. Anti-Federalists believed giving too much power to the federal government would create too much distance from citizens and leave justice unserved. It really depends on your opinion.
